(Mahwah, NJ) February 14, 2017 – Jaguar has announced a range of enhancements to the Jaguar F‑PACE performance SUV, XF and XE sports sedans for the 2018 model year. Included in the updates are a host of new convenience features, trim packages and powertrain enhancements across all three models that deliver more choice and personalization than ever before.

ALL‑NEW ENGINES

Building on the successful introduction of the Ingenium family of engines with the 180HP Ingenium 2.0‑liter diesel in the 2017 XE, XF and F‑PACE, a new 247HP Ingenium 2.0‑liter turbocharged gas four‑cylinder engine will be available as the entry powertrain for each of those 2018 models. This marks the first time a gas four‑cylinder will be available for the F‑PACE and the latest generation XF. With the introduction of the Ingenium gas four‑cylinder, the entry price point for the XF drops to $47,775(2).

Designed, engineered and built wholly in‑house by Jaguar Land Rover, the 247HP 2.0‑liter four‑cylinder Ingenium gas engine, denoted with 25t badging, uses the company’s low friction all‑aluminum‑intensive design which provides excellent thermal properties and lightweight construction, improving efficiency and enhancing vehicle dynamics over traditional steel designs.

CUTTING‑EDGE GAS TECHNOLOGY

Jaguar Land Rover’s family of Ingenium engines have the technologies that deliver exceptional performance, efficiency and refinement while meeting the most stringent global emissions regulations.

The new gas units deploy twin scroll turbos which reduce lag and optimize power delivery(3).

Continuously Variable Valve Lift technology improves air delivery to both engines. The new 247HP powertrain features electrohydraulic valve control for unrivalled timing tuneability in a variety of driving conditions. This patented technology provides fully variable control of the intake valve lift to enhance efficiency, power and torque delivery across the rev range.

In addition, a new 200bar direct injection system, which features centrally mounted injectors with an optimized spray pattern helps maximize fuel combustion, further improves power delivery and reduces emissions.

In a first for Jaguar, the exhaust manifold on the new 2.0‑liter gas Ingenium four‑cylinder is also integrated with the cylinder head casting. Passing coolant through the manifold considerably reduces warm‑up times, when engines are at their least efficient, improving fuel consumption and reducing emissions(3).

GREATER COMFORT AND CONVENIENCE

Extending customer choice is a hallmark of the 2018 model year enhancements for all three vehicles alongside comfort and convenience enhancements. The 20‑way adjustable front seats in the F‑PACE Portfolio and XF Portfolio limited edition are available with powered height headrest adjustment with manual side wing supports.

A revised paint palette for all three vehicles aligns the color names with those offered throughout the Jaguar Land Rover family, simplifying the customer ordering experience.

Jaguar takes pride in the driver assistance technologies available in its vehicles and F‑PACE, XF and XE feature a pair of new technologies available for the 2018 model year(1).

Forward Traffic Detection, part of the optional surround camera system, is designed to assist when forward visibility is restricted. Using a discreet forward‑facing camera in the grille and corner radars, the system detects items crossing the path of the vehicle and provides a visual warning on the central screen when a potential hazard is detected(1).

Forward Vehicle Guidance, also fitted as part of the available Surround Camera System, helps drivers direct the vehicle when completing low speed maneuvers. Working in conjunction with the front parking sensors the system provides a visual representation of the vehicle overlaid with wheel projections showing the alignment of the steering. Drivers can see the parking distance reading on the central screen, taking the stress out of tight maneuvers(1).

On XE and XF models, available Blind Spot Assist (BSA) enhances the Jaguar Land Rover Blind Spot Monitor system by using the collision warning system in tandem with the Electric Power Steering System. BSA is designed to detect a vehicle in or approaching the blind spot when changing lanes and to apply a gentle steering force to keep the vehicle in its lane(1).

World’s first in‑car cashless payment

Jaguar XE, XF and F‑PACE owners in the U.K. can now use the touchscreen of their car to pay for fuel at Shell service stations with a new in‑car cashless payment system developed in conjunction with Shell and Jaguar Land Rover.

Rather than using a card at the pump, or walking into the service station, owners who install the Shell App on their mobile device can simply drive up to any pump at a Shell service station and use their vehicle’s touchscreen to select how much fuel they require and pay using PayPal or Apple Pay®. Android Pay™ will be added later in 2017.

Once the driver has filled up, an electronic receipt will be displayed on the touchscreen, so customers can leave the pump confident of having paid. A receipt will also be sent directly from the pump to the driver’s email address so it can be added to accounting or expenses software.

Cashless Payment connectivity with Shell is available in the U.K. from mid‑February 2017 and will roll out globally later this year.

Art of Performance

Adaptive Dynamics with Configurable Dynamics(1) is available on vehicles fitted with Adaptive Suspension and the InControl Touch Pro infotainment system(5). Building on the customizability of Jaguar Configurable Dynamics, Adaptive Dynamics allows drivers to also adjust the ride comfort and handling responses to suit the driving conditions or personal preference.

In addition, when Touch Pro infotainment is specified customers benefit from Dynamic‑i, which adds a stopwatch, g‑meter readout and accelerator and braking graphics to the central touchscreen display(5), allowing the driver and front passenger to monitor every aspect of the vehicle’s performance.

Comfort and convenience

With its generous 19.1 cu. ft. of trunk space, XF is already a practical sports sedan. Now, the addition of the new Gesture Tailgate function for 2018 model year makes loading and unloading even more convenient.

This handy feature is available on vehicles with keyless entry and rear parking aid and allows customers to open and close the trunk simply by waving a foot under either side of the rear bumper. Sensors detect the movement and trigger the trunk lid opening, making it possible to load the trunk easily when carrying items in both hands. The driver is also able to then close the lid in the same way.

Like the F‑PACE, the XF receives a new limited edition Portfolio derivative that is equipped with the 340hp V‑6 engine. The limited volume model stands as the most elegant and sophisticated version of the XF to date. Comfort gets a boost in the shape of enhanced driver and front passenger seats with 20‑way luxury which incorporates power headrests with side wing supports seating finished in a Sienna Tan Windsor leather, with the instrument panel finished in the same material. Available only in Yulong White, with a tan interior the XF Portfolio limited edition offers a high level of technology as standard. Blind Spot Assist, Forward Traffic Detection and Forward Vehicle Guidance have also been added to the suite of available driver’s assistance technologies for the 2018 model year Jaguar XF.

JAGUAR XE

The award‑winning Jaguar XE benefits from a host of enhancements. Like the XF and F‑PACE, the powertrain options for the XE expand to include the addition of a new 247HP gas four‑cylinder which is available in both RWD and AWD configurations.

The 2018 model year XE brings with it a new trim level available for the first time in the U.S.; the sporty XE S is geared toward customers looking for even more dynamic performance from their sport sedan. Fitted with a thrilling supercharged 3.0‑liter V‑6 engine shared with the F‑TYPE sportscar, power is raised from the 340HP in the R‑Sport model to 380HP in the XE S. The additional 40 horsepower means better off‑the‑line acceleration and improved performance throughout the rev‑range.

Adaptive Dynamics, which provides personalization of the engine, steering, gearbox and suspension settings, is currently available on automatic 180HP diesel and 340HP gas Prestige and R‑Sport models.  It will be available on models powered by the new 247HP 2.0‑liter Ingenium gas engine and standard on the S model. When InControl Touch Pro infotainment is fitted in conjunction with Adaptive Dynamics, customers also benefit from Dynamic‑i, which adds a stopwatch, g‑meter readout, as well as accelerator and braking graphics to the central touchscreen display(5,7).

Convenience and Driver Assistance

Living with the XE has never been easier thanks to a host of convenience enhancements that come with the 2018 model year cars. Like the XF, the new Powered Gesture Trunk Lid technology makes it possible for customers to open the trunk with a simple wave of the foot beneath either side of the rear bumper, taking the stress out of loading and unloading luggage.

Also new for this year, the availability of a 12.3‑inch TFT virtual instrument cluster for owners who have specified Jaguar InControl Touch Pro infotainment. With four distinct visual themes to choose from, the large display makes it possible to view full‑screen navigation mapping, reducing the stress of driving in unfamiliar surroundings(5).

Jaguar has enhanced its comprehensive suite of available driver’s assistance technologies with the addition of Blind Spot Assist, Forward Vehicle Guidance and Forward Traffic Detection technologies for the 2018 model year as well.

The XE is also now available with advanced Emergency Braking, which provides superior functionality with the introduction of Pedestrian Detection technology. The system operates between 3 and 37mph (5‑60km/h) and uses a forward facing camera to detect hazards, and is designed to automatically apply the brakes when the risk of a possible collision is detected. When conditions allow, the state‑of‑the‑art assistance feature is able to identify pedestrians standing over 3’ 3” tall in the path of the vehicle(1).

Like the XF and F‑PACE, the 2018 XE is available in a limited edition Portfolio derivative that’s powered by a 340HP 3.0L Supercharged gas V‑6. The limited volume model stands as the most refined version of the XE to date. Based off of the XE Prestige, the XE Portfolio includes the same features as the Prestige, plus a long list of standard features, including, but not limited to the Comfort & Convenience Package which includes, Climate front seats, Heated rear seats, Electric rear window sunblind and Powered Gesture Trunk Lid (open & close); and the Technology Package which includes InControl Touch Pro infotainment and navigation with 825‑Watt 17‑speaker Meridian surround sound and 10‑inch touchscreen with 12.3‑inch full digital instrument panel(5).
