Former British Number One and tennis legend Tim Henman has hosted a Jaguar Academy of Sport Tennis Masterclass with a selection of Britain's budding tennis stars.

The Masterclass was held at The Harbour Club in Chelsea, London where the young promising tennis players were able to work with Tim and former tennis player turned television presenter Andrew Castle to learn all about the sport of tennis, from the crucial serve to the various forehand, backhand, volley, overhead and drop shot techniques.

Tim Henman, Jaguar Academy of Sport Ambassador, commented: 'It has been great to be able to give something back, I have thoroughly enjoyed working with youngsters here in London and if I've inspired just one of the attendees to develop and progress in tennis, then it has been worthwhile. I look forward to more days like today with the Jaguar Academy of Sport.'

Emily Middleton, Young Tennis player, Oxford, commented: "It was so exciting to attend the master class.  I play tennis at school and have tuition on Saturdays but to learn drop shot techniques from Tim Henman was amazing.  I can't wait to tell my tennis class I actually met him."

The Jaguar Academy of Sport aims to recognise, celebrate and inspire the very best of British sporting talent and success. This is fulfilled through a Bursary Fund and a unique Mentoring and Education Programme delivered through a series of workshops and talent days. Mentoring is key to the Academy and provides all the Rising Stars with the non‑financial support they need in order to be successful and workshops like today, mean our Rising Stars are able to work with Britain's sporting greats and ultimately their heroes who they aspire to be.

How to become a rising star

To be eligible for the Jaguar Academy of Sport Bursary Fund, the young athlete, both able‑bodied and those with a disability, should be nominated to SportsAid for financial support by their sports own national governing body (NGB). This ensures the Jaguar Academy of Sport helps to support the right athletes, at the right time, in the right way.
