Mahwah, NJ – May 13, 2026: Enter Jaguar Type 01. The name that inaugurates a new era.
The new luxury four‑door GT encapsulates the Jaguar brand’s spirit of originality, with an unmistakable presence and driving character.
The Type 01 name appears on the strikethrough motif where the hood meets the windscreen. Bold linear graphics. A signature of future Jaguar.
In Jaguar Type 01, the ‘0’ represents electric propulsion and zero tailpipe emissions ‘1’ denotes its status as the first Jaguar of a new era. Designed, developed and built in the heart of the UK.
The ‘Type’ designation unites the brand’s history of innovation in design, technology and performance with the most advanced Jaguar vehicle ever. The first of its type, with unmistakable presence achieved through an innovative new body architecture. Tri‑motor technology delivers more than 1,000PS (986 HP) and over 1,300Nm (959 ft‑lbs) of torque.
'Type' naming first appeared on the Le Mans race‑winning C‑type of 1951. On the road, it came to represent two characters in one car: an engaging drive with deep reserves of power, plus refinement and composure. The E‑type and the more recent F‑TYPE are exemplars.
We have reimagined Jaguar for a new era, with inspiration from what has gone before. Our engineers have achieved this with a vehicle that looks and drives like no other electric car yet reflects a unique provenance. The Type 01 name is part of that story – for me, the zero also signifies a complete brand reset, and the ‘1’, our first car for a new chapter, a ‘one of a kind!’

Jaguar Type 01 is to be revealed later this year. Its exuberant modernist design, pioneering technology and instinctive driving dynamics will underpin future Jaguar models.
