- 2019 Jaguar I‑PACE is first all‑electric vehicle from the Jaguar brand
(LOS ANGELES, CALIF.) – Thursday November 29 – Today at the Los Angeles Auto Show, the Jaguar I‑PACE was named Green Car Journal ‘s 2019 Luxury Green Car of the Year. The Jaguar I‑PACE was recognized for raising the bar in environmental performance, while offering exceptional design, luxury appointments and driving characteristics.
For the past 14 years, Green Car Journal has been recognizing leadership in the automotive field at the LA Auto Show and now AutoMobilityLA, in addition to other noted auto shows. The magazine's expanded 2019 Green Car Awards™ program In Los Angeles recognizes the best‑of‑the‑best ‘green’ models in three important and complementary categories through the 2019 Luxury Green Car of the Year™, 2019 Green Car of the Year®, and 2019 Green SUV of the Year™ awards.
“The all‑electric Jaguar I‑PACE delivers exactly what premium buyers want in an electric vehicle,” said Ron Cogan, editor and publisher of Green Car Journal and GreenCarJournal.com. “With the elegant appointments, sportiness, and sophistication of a Jaguar plus the functionality of an SUV – and of course blazing performance and a significant EPA rated 234 mile all‑electric range – the I‑PACE stands out as a deserving winner of 2019 Luxury Green Car of the Year™.”
The Jaguar I‑PACE midsize performance SUV is the first battery electric vehicle to be offered by the Jaguar brand. The vehicle’s bold proportions are a direct result of the advanced electric drivetrain and architecture that underpin the vehicle. The cab‑forward profile of the I‑PACE is a natural progression of the well‑established design language of the Jaguar brand and retains key characteristics which make it immediately identifiable as the newest member of the Jaguar brand’s expanding ‘PACE’ family.
“We are honored to have the Jaguar I‑PACE named 2019 Luxury Green Car of the Year by Green Car Journal,” said Joe Eberhardt, President and CEO, Jaguar Land Rover North America, LLC. “As our first all‑electric vehicle, the Jaguar I‑PACE is a game changer for our brand, yet it maintains the stunning design cues, characteristics and breadth of dynamic capability that is inherent in our vehicles. It is fantastic to see our innovative technology recognized and celebrated by this prestigious publication.”
The I‑PACE underlines the Jaguar brand’s dedication to technological advancement and is the first Jaguar to incorporate the intuitive Jaguar InControl® Touch™ Pro Duo infotainment system. It uses an innovative combination of touchscreens, capacitive sensors and tactile physical controls to operate key functions while reducing visual clutter within the cabin2. This new human‑machine interface (HMI) design features two touchscreens on the center console, designed to reduce driver distraction; separating information and interactive controls logically, while rotary controllers provide an essential physical connection between car and driver2.
Featuring a 90kWh battery powering Jaguar‑designed electric motors placed on the front and rear axles, the I‑PACE delivers a EPA Estimated range of up to 234 miles3 and 0‑60mph acceleration in as little as 4.5 seconds on its way to a top speed of 124mph4.
The 2019 Jaguar I‑PACE is currently on sale in the US priced from $69,5001 with the first customer deliveries taking place this month.
