Panasonic Jaguar Racing made it a fourth consecutive points-scoring race at the Berlin ePrix today. Driver Mitch Evans recorded the fastest lap of the race, securing Jaguar’s first silverware in FIA Formula E championship with the VISA Fastest Lap Award trophy. Team-mate Adam Carroll gained three positions with a lightning-quick start, to finish the race in P14.
Recording the fastest lap of the Berlin ePrix, Mitch Evans scored a valuable championship point for Panasonic Jaguar Racing. The British team retain eighth position in the team standings with five races remaining.
Racing on the apron of the historic former Tempelhof Airport, the Berlin ePrix was a challenging race for all teams as they entered the second half of the season and the longest Formula E race of the season.
Starting the race in P16, Mitch Evans gained a position off the starting line, but sustained damage on the first lap, when squeezed into the wall by a competitor. When pitting for repairs, the team switched strategy and Evans re-joined the track in his second Jaguar I-TYPE to push for the fastest lap.
The New Zealander set an unbeaten time of 1:10:224 on lap 16.
Adam Carroll started the ePrix in P18 and made a terrific start, gaining three positions. Carroll carefully managed his energy strategy to retain his position after the pit stop and finished the first race of the Berlin double-header classified in P14.

James Barclay, Team Director, Panasonic Jaguar Racing: “I am pleased to have continued our point scoring record and securing our first trophy in Formula E. We know that we didn’t extract our full potential in qualifying, which is crucial to a good result in the series. Mitch and Adam both made up places at the start but unfortunately Mitch sustained damage and we switched strategy to go for the fastest lap. It was a tremendous effort by the team to set up his second car and get him back on track during the race.”

Mitch Evans, #20: “I was really pleased with the start. I gained some positions off the line but I was squeezed into the wall at the entry to the EMOTION Club tunnel. At that point, we opted to change strategy to wait for a gap and then go for the fastest lap. To win the VISA Fastest Lap Award and another point was a positive from a tough day behind the wheel. I’m looking forward to getting out there again tomorrow. It is going to be a long race but I will be pushing.”
Adam Carroll, #47: “It was a challenging race today. This is the longest distance we have faced, making energy management so critical. It is key to hit your energy targets and drive as efficiently as possible or you will struggle towards the end. We had a lot of positives, particularly a great start, where I gained three positions and we have also gathered more important data that we will put to good use tomorrow.”
The second day of the Berlin ePrix double-header takes place tomorrow, with 46 laps in total - two more than today.
