Jaguar Remembers Former President

Graham W. Whitehead, former president of Jaguar Cars Inc., passed away on Tuesday, June 30, 2015 at 86. Graham was a leading executive in the imported car industry for over 30 years, and headed Jaguar in North America through the turbulent 1970s and the exciting 1980s when the company first became independent and later was purchased by Ford.
Born in Kidderminster, England, he began his automotive career as an engineering staff apprentice at Wolseley Motors Ltd. In 1966, Graham was named president of British Motor Holdings (USA) Inc. (BMH), which was formed with the joining of BMC/Hambro and Jaguar Cars Inc.
At the time of his retirement in 1990, he was in charge of North American operations for Jaguar and a Jaguar Ltd. Board member.
Graham also served as president of the British Automobile Manufacturers Association, the British‑American Chamber of Commerce and the St. George’s Society. Between 1986 and 1990 he was on the corporate advisory board to the NASDAQ stock exchange and was elected to their board of governors in 1987. In 1977, he was appointed a CBE (Commander of the Order of the British Empire) by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth.
Graham enjoyed sailing and had a lifelong love of music, especially jazz. He also enjoyed travelling the world, both for business and pleasure.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Gabrielle, his son Michael W. Whitehead, his daughter Jane W. Guenther and 3 grandchildren.
Jaguar Land Rover North America remembers Graham for his dedication and contribution to the Jaguar brand over his many years with the company. He will be truly missed.
