Two models of the British luxury brand are crowned
'Legends on Wheels' by Automotive News
Europe.
The Jaguar E‑type was declared the 'legend' of the 1960s,
and the Jaguar C‑X75 concept car was crowned the 'Future Legend' at
the Automotive News Europe award ceremony
at the start of the 64th Frankfurt Motor Show.
The only pan‑European magazine for the automotive
industry celebrated the last 125 years with a
special internet‑based competition. More
than 100,000 votes were cast to choose the 'Legends on Wheels'
through the decades.
The British icon ‑ the Jaguar E‑type ‑ was a
clear favourite for the 1960s, fighting off the
Porsche 911, Ford Mustang, Opel GT and Aston Martin
DB5, and this year celebrates its 50th
anniversary.
The Jaguar C‑X75, revealed at the Paris Motor
Show last year, won the 'Legend of the Future' and was praised for
the innovative approach to the 780‑hp hybrid supercar.
Ian Callum, Jaguar Design Director commented "We are proud of our
unique heritage and are recreating the Jaguar marque in the way it
was intended, through the Jaguar C‑X75 and the C‑X16, which we
revealed today at the International Motor Show. These cars are as
modern now as the E‑type was back then. They have everything that
makes a Jaguar ‑ beauty, sensuous design and inspirational
performance with the potential of a true supercar."
